Visiting Members and a New Apartment

This week was great. We were basically visiting members all week. It has been great. We also got an apartment so it was really nice to move out of the hotel. Things are going really great here.

It was interesting yesterday as we were biking to church, it started raining so hard that I couldn’t see where I was going. I had to put on my sunglasses to keep the water out of my eyes. It soaked everything, head to foot. But it was fun, we got to church and were dripping wet.

Before, when we had the church, Elder McGill was the pianist and he’s pretty good at the piano, but he’s finished his mission since then and there are not really any of the members here that know how to play the piano so it’s kind of my job now. It’s ok. I can do enough to play so it’s going well. Besides that, church was really nice.

We are still held back in that we don't have any English classes yet. We are still on tourist visas until our English visas come through and also we can’t teach investigators yet but both of those things should be fixed in the near future. 

Being here with Elder Smith-Driggs is a lot of fun. He is a great missionary and is really good at socializing with members and other people we meet. Elder Smith-Driggs has about 3 months left on his mission so he will finish his mission here. I will also finish my mission here but I have a bit longer.

One of the highlights of this week was President Johnson coming to Laos to do some business for the church. One morning we ate breakfast with him and a few of the lawyers from Hong Kong. That was fun. One of the lawyers introduced us to some of the things that he ate on his mission. Then we showed him some of the fish guts and stuff that we eat here. 

The food here actually isn't too bad once you get used to it. I enjoy almost all Lao food. 

I don't really have too much for today. Everything is going really well and we are having a great time.
