Elder Magill's last week, Mission tour, Halloween

It was another great week here in Laos. We are still without a church building, but it is getting closer. So we mainly taught English all of this week. It was also a lot of fun because we had Halloween. Also, it was Elder Magills last week so a lot of English students and members wanted to eat with all of us so that was a lot of fun. The reason Elder Magill is going home now is because he extended his mission one month. He was supposed to go home at the last transfer. So we have a new Elder now. His name is Elder Ingleton. He was in the MTC group that came right after my group, and he is now companions with Elder Saunders.

Halloween was a lot of fun So, as English teachers, we had a lot of fun in our classes giving them a culture lesson about Halloween, and teaching them about trick or treating, jack O lanterns and stuff like that. We even got to have them practice trick or treating and we gave them candy. It was a lot of fun. Later in the night, after our classes, on Halloween we had an activity at one of the members houses. We made this haunted house for them to go through. It was a pretty good haunted house too if I say so myself. My jobs in running the haunted house included pulling a piece of fishing line tied to a swing to make it appear as if the swing was moving without anyone there. Also, I hid under a couch and grabbed peoples legs while they walked by. So Halloween was a lot of fun and we got to make it a holiday even though it isnt really a holiday here.

On Tuesday we taught the deaf kids again. This time we taught them true or false, so we would write a sentence on the board in English and explain the sentence to them in sign language. Then they would hold up their piece of paper that said True or their piece of paper that said False. It was a lot of fun, especially after they understood it well and would start doing the opposite ones as a joke. For example, we wrote the sentence; ‘I am a turtle.’ Then we translate for them and they would all hold up the True sign and then laugh. It was really funny.

So, yesterday we came over to Thailand again because we currently are having a mission tour by Elder Wong from the Asia Area Presidency. We got to hear from him. He talked a lot about teaching skills so I am really excited to use some of those this weekend and then again when we get a church. We are still here in Thailand because this weekend is District Conference (basically like Stake Conference but for Districts which are not as big as Stakes). So we have part of that today and a good portion of that tomorrow.

So that was this week. We have also been able to keep in touch with our investigators over the phone. They are all still doing good. Two of our investigators are coming to District Conference and one is bringing his family so that is super awesome. Also, we will be able to teach them while they are here in Thailand
